Introduction

On April 10, 2026, global automotive seating leader Adient announced the launch of StepJoy, a new foot massage innovation developed specifically for vehicle cabins. The product brings an automotive-grade foot massage solution into mass production, making its global debut on automaker NIO's ES9 model.

Key Features of StepJoy

StepJoy relies on a cam-based mechanical system engineered to deliver a targeted foot-sole massage across the occupant's forefoot and arch. The unit integrates two synchronized cam modules, allowing the mechanism to maintain strong massage performance while remaining cost-efficient and compact. Depending on specific Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) requirements, StepJoy can also be equipped with an integrated heating feature for added comfort.

Design and Integration

The massager features a slim, space-saving design tailored for flexible vehicle seating layouts. When not in use, the StepJoy unit stows completely into the seatback. In its deployed position, it doubles as an ergonomic footrest. To guarantee long-term wear and a premium feel, Adient integrated its proprietary Magic Trim seat cover assembly. This system utilizes high-stretch materials to meet rigorous automotive durability standards without compromising the interior aesthetic.
